One day, a while back, Elvin was standing under his favorite fig tree. It was a twisted ancient tree that had lived since the forest first began.
Suddenly, a large rotten branch fell and hit Elvin's head with a loud thud and a crack!

Afterwards, when the swollen spot on Elvin's head was mostly healed, he went back to school. Elvin was glad to be back at school with his friends but began to notice that he had forgotten some things he used to know.
His teacher asked him, Elvin, why can't you remember how to add your figs?
Elvin felt sad and confused. He did not know why it was hard for him to add figs now. Before he hurt his head, Elvin was a fantastic fig counter!
