The Beginning

Faith and brain injury.

Faith and brain injury.

Understanding my blog is knowing that I have been, am currently and will be in this world as long as the good Lord has planned for me to be here. However, I am definitely not and never will be of this world. Now, according to the title of a song by Black Eyed Peas, Let’s Get It Started!…

Number1: I am a Child of God, without a doubt I can assuredly say that I am a Born-Again Christian who has a much better place to look forward to than life here on this earth.

Number 2: Everything else is really not of that much significance.

For some of you readers who can relate, God bless you and we are going to enjoy our time here before we can really Enjoy. And to the other readers not relating to this, God Bless you as well, so please come Along (I am not trying to turn into an evangelist, but sit back and take pleasure in this journey with me, I am trying! Remember Bartley- ‘Don’t Give Up, Don’t Ever Give Up’- love that quote by Jimmy Valvano at the 1993 ESPY Awards, which was his greatest quote and came just 8 weeks before cancer took him… If I may ask each one of you that is still with me and reading this to please watch the clip – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpxMMbtlfng  – of Jimmy V, ESPY Speech on youtube.com.

Let us begin with me, Bartley H. Williams (I love to include the H. now at this point in my life because my ‘dad’- Howard- has been the greatest inspiration to me, other than my mom—and I’ll get to introducing them as well later on).
This is just the beginning. In my future blogs, you will continue to see that I am probably the most optimistic person you will ever meet in your life. Please do not take that as a brag, but take everything I say as encouragement, dedication, and determination for all that you do every day of your life.

This is a little introduction of myself to sum up my life for you as quick as I can. I am a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor. It was almost 16 years ago (May 21st, 1995) that I was involved in a T-bone car accident coming home from dropping off my girl friend after church. I was just 9 tenths of a mile away from my house when 2 traveling headlights (82-83 mph) hit me as I was pulling into the highway. (Surely it wasn’t your fault Bartley?… Was it? I’ll get to that later) My brother, who was in the passenger seat, suffered a broken collar bone and a few broken ribs. I was not as fortunate. And this is why God has spared me to speak with you today.

If you will please bear with me throughout my blogs, they will be quite enjoyable. Some will be kind of serious, others funny, and others may leave you crying. Please note this, I am here to inspire, you, the reader of this blog with my thought and sense of humor, compassion, and including seriousness throughout this writing. I hope I can encourage and motivate you to be all that you can be.

  1. Sometimes it’s humor that helps us see the light when everything else looks so dark.
